Best NAD+ Supplement UK (2026): What Actually Matters When Choosing

27.08.2026

By Dr. Cherry Lo, PhD - Scientist and Partner at Manapura’s longevity range. Recently featured as the lead longevity-science expert in British Vogue’s "NAD+ Vs NMN: Which Ingredient Is Better For Healthy Ageing?" (3 August 2026). Prices and product specifications correct as of August 2026.

If you are choosing an NAD+ supplement in the UK, the hardest part is not finding one - it is working out which claims on the label actually mean something, and whether you are buying an NAD+ precursor or NAD+ itself, which are genuinely different things.

This guide compares Manapura against five other NAD+-category brands on stated purity, dose, testing and real cost per month, and explains the one distinction - precursor vs. direct NAD+ - that matters more than any single brand’s marketing.

Quick answer

Look for a brand that states an exact purity percentage for every active ingredient, publishes an independent, batch-specific lab certificate (not just a badge or a certificate "available on request"), and is transparent about whether you’re buying an NAD+ precursor (NMN, NR) or NAD+ itself.

Manapura’s Pure NAD+ Duo meets this bar with two separately published, third-party lab certificates - 99.97% purity for its NMN and 99.62% purity for its TMG - alongside cGMP and ISO 9001 certified manufacturing. It is not the lowest-cost option in this comparison; but it is clearly is the most independently verifiable one, and at a powerful dose.

What to look for in a quality NAD+ supplement

"NAD+ supplement" is used loosely across the market to mean several different things - some products contain NAD+ itself, others contain precursor compounds the body converts into NAD+. Before comparing brands, here is what actually matters:

  • Precursor vs. direct NAD+: Whether the product uses NAD+ precursors (NMN, NR, or niacin) or NAD+ itself - the single most important distinction in this category. See the section below on why it matters.

  • Purity: Purity should be stated as a specific percentage, ideally 99%+ - not just "pure" as an unquantified marketing word. Published, dated certificates are stronger than "available on request."

  • Independent testing: Look for a brand that publishes or offers a testing certificate from an independent, third-party lab - ideally its own, not its supplier’s.

  • Manufacturing standard: cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) certification means the product is made in a facility meeting recognised quality and safety standards. ISO 9001 covers the wider quality management system.

  • Clearly stated dose: The label should state an exact milligram amount per active ingredient, per serving - not a combined "proprietary blend" figure that hides individual dosing.

  • Real cost per month: Pack sizes across this category range from 30 to 90 capsules and are often labelled in "months" rather than exact counts. The only fair comparison is cost per month at the dose the brand itself recommends - not the headline price.

NAD+ precursors vs. direct NAD+: why it matters

This is the one thing worth understanding before choosing a product, because the market splits roughly in two. Some brands sell NAD+ itself - the finished molecule - often in liposomal form to help it survive digestion. Others sell precursor compounds like NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide), NR (nicotinamide riboside), or niacin (vitamin B3), which the body converts into NAD+ once absorbed.

NAD+ is a large molecule that is poorly absorbed when taken orally, with independent research estimating its direct bioavailability at only 2 to 10%, compared with an estimated 20 to 40% for NMN and NR. A 2025 study published in Science Advances found that NMN and NR reach the bloodstream and support NAD+ synthesis via a metabolic route through the liver and gut, rather than being absorbed intact - and separately, a randomised, placebo-controlled human trial found that daily NR supplementation raised blood NAD+ levels by around 60% in healthy middle-aged and older adults.

As Manapura’s own scientist Dr Cherry Lo told British Vogue in August 2026, discussing precisely this question: "NMN has the most convincing pathway and strongest direct evidence than most conventional swallowed NAD+ products."

This is why precursor-based supplementation currently has the strongest and most direct human clinical trial support of the approaches on the market. Liposomal encapsulation is a genuine attempt by direct-NAD+ brands to address the same absorption challenge, and it’s a reasonable approach - but it’s a solution to a problem that precursor supplementation avoids from the outset.

Two things stand out. First, the market splits by approach rather than by quality - direct-NAD+ brands (Charava, Welzo, Goldman Labs) versus precursor brands (Manapura, Longevity Formulas, Pharma Nord) - and of the two, precursor supplementation currently has the stronger direct human clinical trial support behind it. Second, headline price is a poor guide to real cost: pack sizes and recommended doses differ enough that only cost per month at each brand’s own stated dose is comparable, while Manapura, though the highest sticker price, is also the only brand publishing two separate, dated, independently verifiable purity certificates rather than a badge or an unpublished CoA.

The brands, in detail

Manapura Pure NAD+ Duo

Manapura’s Pure NAD+ Duo takes the precursor approach, combining 1000mg of NMN (2 x 500mg capsules) with 1000mg of TMG (trimethylglycine) daily. The NMN is the same 99.97%-purity, enzymatically-synthesised ingredient used in Manapura’s standalone Pure NMN product. TMG is included specifically to support methylation balance, since NMN metabolism uses methyl groups that TMG helps replenish, and it is independently tested to 99.62% purity (against a ≥98% specification).

The product currently holds 50 verified customer reviews, is vegan, and is available as a one-time purchase (£88) or on a 20%-discounted subscription (£66.88). A three-ingredient version, Advanced NAD+ (adding 1000mg of Trans-Resveratrol), is also available at £120.65 (£96.52 on subscription) for those wanting a broader stack. On cost per month it sits at the higher end, but it is the only product here with two separately published, dated lab certificates behind its stated purity - publicly presented in it’s Trust Centre.

Charava NAD+ 500mg

Charava sells NAD+ itself rather than a precursor, at 500mg per capsule, one capsule daily. It’s manufactured to GMP and ISO 9001:2015 standards with no Certificate of Analysis outwardly published. Priced at £56.99 at its recommended 1-capsule daily dose when buying two units (£113.99 total).

Welzo Ultra Purity Liposomal NAD+ 1000

Welzo also sells NAD+ directly, using liposomal encapsulation to address the molecule’s natural absorption challenge, at 1000mg across two daily capsules (60 capsules per bottle, a 30-day supply). It’s GMP certified and priced at £36.99 - the lowest cost per month in this comparison - although with no independently tested purity results.

Goldman Labs Liposomal NAD+ (OptimCell®)

Goldman Labs uses a liposomal delivery system it calls OptimCell®, delivering 300mg of NAD+ per capsule, one capsule daily (30 capsules per bottle, a 30-day supply). Again, there are no independently published testing results. Manufactured to ISO 22000 and GMP standards in the UK, priced at £35.90 per month.

Longevity Formulas NMN, TMG and Resveratrol

Longevity Formulas takes the same precursor approach as Manapura, combining NMN with TMG and trans-resveratrol (plus pterostilbene, quercetin and vitamin B12) across three daily capsules. Individual ingredient dosing isn’t broken down as clearly on the product page as Manapura’s per-ingredient figures.

One caveat worth understanding: the product page implies a single 90-capsule bottle and therefore a 30-day supply at the recommended three capsules daily, giving £44.99 per month (for 3 capsules giving a total of 500mg of precursor - NMN).

Pharma Nord Bio-NAD+ Booster

Pharma Nord takes a third approach entirely: niacin (vitamin B3, split between nicotinamide and nicotinic acid), an older NAD+ precursor pathway, across 60 tablets recommended at 2 to 3 tablets daily. Depending on which end of that dosing range is followed, that’s £25.50 to £38.25 per month, based on a UK retailer’s £25.50 price for the 60-tablet pack.  The lowest-cost approach compared here, reflecting the lower cost of niacin as a raw ingredient, no published testing, and its position as a simpler, formula rather than a newer NMN or NR-based approach.

What is NAD+, and why does it decline with age?

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every living cell, where it’s essential for converting food into usable cellular energy, supporting DNA repair processes, and enabling the activity of sirtuins - a class of proteins linked to how cells respond to stress and regulate ageing-related processes. Research has consistently shown that NAD+ levels decline naturally with age, as described in our What is Longevity article.

Because NAD+ itself is difficult to take up directly through supplementation, most research attention - and most of the human clinical trial data available - has focused on precursor compounds like NMN and NR, which the body can absorb more readily and convert into NAD+ internally. This is an active and still-developing area of science, which is exactly why product quality, purity and independent testing matter: a low-quality supplement, of any type, is unlikely to deliver a meaningful effect regardless of what the underlying research eventually shows.

How much NAD+ (or NAD+ precursor) should you take?

Human trials of NMN have generally used daily doses between 250mg and 1000mg, and trials of NR have used doses up to 1000mg daily, most commonly taken once daily in the morning. As with any supplement speak with a healthcare professional first if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or managing a significant health condition. NAD+ supplements, in any form, are food supplements, not medicines.

The bottom line

The UK NAD+ supplement market splits into two genuinely different approaches: precursor supplementation (NMN, NR, or niacin, as with Manapura, Longevity Formulas and Pharma Nord) and direct NAD+ supplementation, usually via liposomal delivery to work around its poor natural absorption (as with Charava, Welzo and Goldman Labs). Of the two, precursor supplementation currently has the more direct human clinical trial support behind it.

Manapura’s Pure NAD+ Duo isn’t the cheapest option in this comparison - brands using a single, lower-dose ingredient, and undisclosed testing, like Goldman Labs’ 300mg capsule or Pharma Nord’s niacin-based formula, cost less per month. What Manapura offers instead is definitive and transparent verification of every batch. That matters, because quality varies considerable in NAD+ supplements. Manapura’s is the only product compared here with two separately published, dated, lab-certificate-backed purity results - 99.97% for its NMN, 99.62% for its TMG - rather than an unverified purity claim or a certificate that’s only "available on request." For anyone choosing based on what can actually be checked, rather than taken on trust, that’s the more meaningful differentiator.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the best NAD+ supplement in the UK?
It depends which criterion matters most to you. On independently verified high purity, Manapura’s Pure NAD+ Duo leads the brands compared - presenting two published, dated lab certificates. On lowest cost per month, Goldman Labs and Welzo are cheaper, although purity is unverifiable.

  • Should I take NAD+ directly, or an NAD+ precursor like NMN?
Both approaches are sold in the UK market. Precursor supplementation (NMN or NR) currently has more direct human clinical trial data showing it raises blood NAD+ levels, largely because NAD+ itself is a larger molecule with lower natural absorption when taken orally.

  • What’s the difference between NMN, NR and niacin as NAD+ precursors?
All three are converted into NAD+ by the body, via slightly different metabolic pathways. NMN is one step closer to NAD+ in the conversion process than NR, while niacin (vitamin B3) is an older precursor typically used at lower cost. The pathways for raising NAD+ levels remain an active area of research.

  • Why does Manapura’s NAD+ Duo include TMG?
TMG (trimethylglycine) is included to support methylation balance. The metabolic pathway that converts NMN into NAD+ consumes methyl groups, and TMG is a methyl donor that helps replenish them - a common, sensible pairing rather than an unrelated add-in.

  • Is a higher NAD+ or NMN dose always better?
What matters more is that the stated dose is accurate, backed by independent testing, and at a level in line with published research - a precisely dosed, well-tested product is a better choice than a higher-dose product with vague purity or sourcing claims.

  • How long does it take to notice a difference?
This varies by individual, and NAD+ supplementation - in any form - is intended as a long-term addition to a health routine rather than a fast-acting product. Most people considering it are doing so as part of an ongoing approach to healthy ageing, not for immediate effects.

  • Is NAD+ supplementation safe?
NAD+ and its precursors are widely available as food supplements in the UK. As with any supplement, quality and purity vary significantly between brands, which is why third-party testing and clear labelling matter. Speak to a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement, particularly if you have an existing health condition or take medication.

  • Has Manapura’s approach to NAD+ been recognised anywhere else?
Yes - Manapura’s scientist Dr Cherry Lo was the lead expert quoted in British Vogue’s August 2026 guide to NAD+ vs NMN, discussing precisely the precursor-vs-direct-NAD+ distinction covered in this article.

  • Where can I buy a high-purity NAD+ supplement in the UK?
Manapura’s Pure NAD+ Duo is available directly at manapura.co, combining 1000mg of 99.97%-purity NMN with 1000mg of 99.62%-purity TMG, made to cGMP and ISO 9001 certified manufacturing standards with independent third-party testing.
